You know what? I think this is a theme here because, if I’m not mistaken, we’ve also done doughnut math. Hmm. Anyway, last night the boys and I ran to the grocery store to pick up dinner and Ryan wanted to buy some cupcakes. They sell some that are “two-bite” cupcakes and they’re pretty cute so we picked up one dozen of those and then we proceeded to get the rest of the items we needed. At one point, Ryan pipes up and asks, “Momma, what is 6+6?” Of course, I tell him the answer is 12 and he begins to tell me how the cupcakes have four rows of three, and two rows of three equal six. “Now,” he says,”I know 6+6=12.” We continued to count cupcakes and even fingers as we made our way through the store and one the way to the car. We even did a bit of subtraction as the cupcakes began to disappear.
Man, I wish math had tasted that good when I was young. Now if I can just figure out a way to keep all this math off my thighs we’ll be doing all right.

Isn’t that always the dillemma? Why can’t cupcake goodness be zero calories and mathematically challenging? What a perfect world it would be. 🙂
