This is what it looks like at our house today:
It’s snowing! Hopefully we’ll be able to get out and play in it once it accumulates a little more. They’re not calling for much but we should get a couple of inches which will be enough to satisfy the boys’ desire to get out and make some snowballs.
I wanted to show you what the boys have been doing here lately besides the usual video games and computer stuff. The other night my sister and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and while we were there I spotted some art sets that had canvas, paint, and brushes for $2.50. In the package you got 2 canvases with pre-printed pictures, 6 brushes, and 12 tubes of acrylic paint. I couldn’t believe how cheap they were so I bought Iain and Ryan each a set. They loved it and couldn’t wait to get started!
They both had the same set and they chose to work on the same picture of dinosaurs. It was interesting to see how differently each of them interpreted how the picture should look.
Ryan is very fastidious and likes to take his time and try and get everything “just right” as he sees it. Iain’s is much more textured and abstract. I love them both!
Today we had one of Ryan’s friends over to play and Sean and Iain went out to run some errands. I have some chores to do but I just don’t feel like it. I just want to snuggle up on the sofa and watch the snow fall. What are you doing today?

love the art! I’m such a sucker for spotted dinos! Glad you got some snow. We might get some later too. I will take a photo for you. The kids and I are going to attempt to make cracker candy from the chickens in the road blog. It looks so yummy. Enjoy the snow!-K

My son is playing at his cousins today, so my husband and I had the day alone. A nice day. Hope you get your snow!

We had snow too! Enough to even build a little snowman. He had lots of leaves and grass in him but he was so cute. Sadly he was massacred with the ninja swords before I could get a picture. Oh well…
Love how different the paintings are! It is so amazing how their personalities really shine through.

Stephanie,
I would love to see something you create! 🙂
K- Holy moly. I looked at the cracker candy recipe on the blog you mentioned and dang! I might have to make that myself tomorrow! That smack looks delicious.
Stacie – How nice for you and your hubby to get some alone time! I’m jealous!
Carri,
I was wondering if you guys were going to get any snow! We built a little snowman, too. I’m going to post his picture here tomorrow.
Hope you all had a wonderful day!

Cate,
I love snow but I love rain too. Makes me want to curl up with a good book!
Bridget,
Thanks for stopping by! We used to live in Irving many years ago and one thing I missed about being a more northern southerner was the snow. We got ice there once but that was it!
Gorgeous,
I found them hanging on one of the columns in the back of the store. Most stores have the same layout, I think. Good luck! It’s a steal of a deal.
