Today the boys and I headed outdoors for some natural entertainment. We have a trail near our house and since the sun was shining and the temp was so agreeable, we decided to take full advantage of it while we could. There were so many awesome things to see today! Wild strawberries nestled in the grass like tiny red rubies scattered along the trail. Caterpillars sunning themselves and cocoons waiting to hatch. Squirrels running here and there and everywhere, frolicking in the beautiful warm sunshine. We walked over to my sister’s house and invited her and Makena to join us on our trek and they were more than happy to oblige. The treasure hunt continued and we found a brilliant blue feather that had fallen from a Blue Jay’s wing. Ryan found a toothpick with an American flag on it and he swore that rabbits and squirrels were trying to demonstrate their love for America. The boys and Makena ran along the trail absolutely enjoying themselves and their laughter rang through the air, traveling high along with the chorus of birds that were singing their favorite songs.
It was a beautiful, wonderful, spiritual walk. I felt so connected to life and family. Amazing.
I hope the sun is shining wherever you are today and that you are able to get out and enjoy it as well!

That does sound like a great day. I sat in a con’t ed class for 4 hours this morning fighting like crazy not to fall asleep. All is good now though.

Oh, Joan! I think days like today make those kinds of things seem even longer than they are. Glad you are free now!!

That sounds gorgeous! We actually have sun today too – and a bright, clear sky reflecting on the frosty lawn.

That sounds lovely. I think I see a hike in my future now. 🙂

Cool! I am glad you guys had such a good day, Evie.
No pictures? I guess you were having too much fun:) That is the way it should be every once in a while.

Thanks everybody! Looks like we’re getting rain for the next couple of days so there won’t be anymore nature hikes for a little while.
Cate, You all must be heading into your fall/winter season now, right?
Colleen, get to hiking, girlfriend!!
Marin, I thought about taking my camera because I got a new macro lens for mother’s day but I decided I wanted to really be in the moment and experience it all with the boys. Sometimes when I have my camera, I get too wrapped up in getting the shot to enjoy their excitement at the world around them.
It’s a tough call for me. It would have been really cool to have photos of all those things we saw! But maybe another day!
Hope you’re doing well!
