Oh man! Is That Really the Sun??

life· misc· photography

Man, the weather around here has been downright dreary with rain almost every day since last Monday. Over a week of gray skies. Today though, the sun broke through the clouds valiantly, even if only for about an hour or so. Taking advantage of the sorely missed sunshine, the boys and I headed out to the Bicentennial Park which was in full bloom and breathtakingly beautiful.

The cherry trees were blooming and their petals fell down on us like snowflakes.

The boys got a kick out of this tree. Ryan said, “Wow, a lot of people love each other!”

This little dude actually seemed like he wanted his picture taken. He posed for several shots!

The next two shots are my favorites from the day, I think:

We had a nice day. It was quiet and rather uneventful. We all need days like that from time to time.

Great pics. I love the squirrel. He looks like a character out of a disney movie. Looks like you guys had a great time. We’ll have to go back and take Makena too. I’m sure she would love it!!!

That is such a great picture of a squirrel. He looks like he is inviting you into his den for tea. We were excited to be in the sun too yesterday. Both my boys are thinking about participating in the science fair, btw.

Yes to sunshine! The lack of was really starting to affect me. I like to stop at Bicentennial Park on my way home from work on occasion and take pictures.

Such lovely pictures. Thanks for sharing. No sun around these parts unfortunately. But then, I’m sick, so who needs the sun. I was hoping to get started on that science project, but I’m just not up to it yet.

Care to send some healthy vibes? 😉

We finally had some today, but now it’s gone gray again. April showers bring May flowers, or something…-K

It is my absolute favorite time of the year when Cherry Blossoms sprinkle down from the trees. Lovely and magical all at the same time.

MamaK, I can almost hear you grumbling from here! We’re getting ready to cool off again so I can totally identify!

Deeg, thanks! I liked that shot, too. I usually suffer a lot with allergies but this year hasn’t been bad so far.

    Sheri,
Have you ever seen the movie “Legend” with TOm Cruise? Beautiful movie, typical 80’s cheese but gorgeous. I think about that movie every time I see cherry blossoms on the trees.

Madeline, thanks! I’m glad to hear both boys might do it!!

Joan, have you ever been to Tannenbaum Park? We haven’t and we’re going to try that tomorrow morning.

    Freckles,
So sorry to hear that you’re under the weather! Definitely sending healthy vibes your way!!

Those pictures are gorgeous. You have become quite the photographer! I got a new Canon Rebel XT for my birthday but when I read the manual my eyes cross. I think I need a course or something! I hope to be taking great pictures like these soon.

Oh, and we have a project for the science fair! It happened quite serendipitously… we – ok, *I* – have been planning to do vermicomposting for some time now. We bought the materials to build a bin the other day when I thought, “Hey! Science project! Score!” Jonathan is excited and absolutely sure he’s going to make his fortune selling worm poop. Who knows? He may be right. So, we’re in. This’ll hold me to task and get me to move on this. I tend to procrastinate quite badly!
