7 Things About Me Meme

Alison has tagged me for a Meme. I’m going to cheat a little because I did this back in June but nobody was really reading here very much back then so I’m going to use some of the things from that list. These meme’s are always fun and if you read here and want to do this, please leave a comment here and let us know that you’ve done it.

List 7 Things About Yourself

  1. One of my favorite ways to pass the time is to crank up some old Duran Duran and dance around the room, pretending I’m in an all-girl duran duran cover band and I’m performing at a local bar.
  2. When I was in my early 20’s one of the things I wanted to do so badly was be a female referee in the NFL. I freaking love football and since I knew I couldn’t actually play it, I thought the next best thing would be to ref games. Obviously that didn’t work out.
  3. I do not believe in creationism. In fact, the new museum devoted to it is one of the most frightening things I’ve read about in a very long time.
  4. When the internet dating scene was still young, circa 1995, I met a man on AOL who flew me out to California at his expense and let me stay at his house for the weekend. I was 24 and my parents were totally freaked out. They were convinced I was coming home in a body bag. I thought I was going to become the wife of an LA big shot. Thank goodness that didn’t work out!
  5. I could eat hot dogs and green bean casserole for every meal of the day because I love them that much.
  6. I do not drink very often. Just don’t like it that much. I have other vices though!
  7. I am VERY klutzy. It began years ago when I ran into a column in the cafeteria in 8th grade while trying to be first in the hamburger/hot dog line. Recently, it has manifested itself in falls down stairs and sprained ankles. I constantly drop things and have fumbly fingers.

Ok, so I changed a couple to keep it fresh. Like I said, if you want to participate in this then please do and leave a comment here so we can all travel to your blog and see what you wrote, to me this is infinitely easier than tagging seven folks and I’m a lazy chick so there you go!

Oh Geez, your parents were right to be worried about a body bag. You are one lucky young woman everything turned out ok.

Hi there! I just stumbled across your bog and I love it! You sound like you’re having so much fun with your boys despite all the past angst – I would love to hear about how you moved from a traditional school at home approach to unschooling, I am trying DESPERATELY to make that leap more and more (it’s really about faith, I’ve decided – not the god kind though, not at all). I also noticed some areas where we have had similar experiences (I had one of those uncles too… but I never breathed a word – I sure wish I had though, even at 42 I still pay the price, I’m also trying to live greener, and face the same obstacles (such as the money factor) you do) Anyway, thanks for sharing your life, and your photos, you are doing amazing things!

    Cheers – Penny

Chrys, it’s really just laziness on my part! 🙂

Rising Rainbow, I actually had a PI run a background check on him before I went. He wasn’t famous but he was a well-placed person socially so it was easy to find info on him. It could have turned out badly, true, but so could many other things in life.

    Penny,
I’m so glad you found your way here and that we have so many things in common. I would be very happy to talk to you about unschooling, too. Frankly, we’re still in the transition stage, more me than the boys. It’s tough to give up all those years of conditioning that we suffered through with our parents.

Please email me at unschoolingwhimsigal@gmail.com so we talk more about unschooling!

    1. I love Duran Duran too! Long live 80’s music! I’m gonna go put on my old elf boots now.

    2. Wow, you DO love football! Remind me not to have you over on Sunday, cuz then you’ll choose my boys over me and I’ll pout.

    3. Will have to check this out to see what’s up.

    4. Wow, that’s some story!

    5. We all have foods we love that are bad for us. One of mine is Cocoa Pebbles cereal. Shhh!

    6. Like #5?

    7. Ouch grrrl, get yerself some bubble wrap, and quick!

He was misdiagnosed by the first vet we used here and that led to a situation where the treatment almost seemed worse than the disease. Thankfully, @lawndale_vet helped us navigate that situation and they have nursed this big boy back to a much happier place. We still are uncertain about how much time we have left with him but, for now, he is the happiest we have seen him in a long time. I am so thankful to the staff at Lawndale for, not only providing great medical care, but for loving on him and making him feel like the best boy ever at each appointment. ❤️❤️❤️

I got my extensions out right before thanksgiving and have been STRUGGLE BUSSING with my hair ever since. Today it looks better than it has in a while so maybe I’m starting to hit my stride with it. This is the face of a very sad boy. Bowie has been This is the face of a very sad boy. Bowie has been suffering with licking granulomas since last March. We got the first one healed and then he got one on his other paw. Then that one got better but his paw pads got rubbed raw by the protective boot he was in and now are infected. Fingers crossed that this cone helps keep him from licking it so he can heal. Until then, Bowie is going to be a very sad boy, indeed. 😢

My sweet friend @tlventura made it for me and it’s one of two fall decorations I kept when we moved. Hope you’re having an awesome day wherever you are, friends!! ❤️❤️❤️
