State of Flux

Not sure why it is, maybe it’s the changing season, but my life feels as though it has been in a great state of flux lately.  I feel restless, like something is coming.  The urge for me to do something wild and different is so strong and the call is hard to ignore.  We flirted with the idea of moving into a bigger house recently and went through the whole process of pre-approval, getting an agent, etc, only to change our minds because of the lack of good homes on the market.  So moving isn’t going to be the thing that settles me down.  Now I’m focusing on myself and my health.

This week I’m going to tour a fitness facility near my house.  One of my friends goes there and she’s been trying to get me to go for a while.  Since going on anti-depressants I’ve put on some weight and it has me a bit freaked out because nothing fits.  I’ve got to change that!  In addition to trying to get into better shape, I’m going to do something CRAZY (for me!) with my hair.

Have you seen the trend of women dyeing their hair silvery purple or platinum?  Well that is what I am going to do!!  I’m very excited about it.  My hair has been going gray for the last few years and I really didn’t want to cover it up.  My grandfather had the most beautiful snow white hair and I was hoping that mine would do that, too.  What happening with it right now though is, it’s so light at the roots that it looks like I have no hair when I pull it back!!  So I’m going to embrace my silvery dreams and color my hair.  It’s only hair, if I don’t like it, I can change it or cut it.  It will grow back.  🙂

My youngest turned 13 last month and it was so much fun.  He asked for cupcakes that looked like burgers so I was happy to oblige.  Anything that doesn’t require me to do something artistic with the frosting on the cake is perfect for me!  LOL  They turned out pretty well, too.  You just take a yellow cake mix and bake cupcakes.  You make a batch of brownies.  Let everything cool.  Then, you cut the cupcakes in half and place a 2″ circle-cut brownie inside.  Top with red, yellow, and green frosting to look like ketchup, mustard, and lettuce and then put the cake top back on.  Voilá!  Cupcake burger!  I will say that they were mostly a hit but for me, the brownie was a bit much.  I think I would have enjoyed it more had the “burger” been devils food cake instead.  We got the recipe off Pinterest somewhere, I can’t take credit for it.  They did turn out really cute though.

I love Springtime.  Everything looks so bright and happy and new outside.  All the trees have buds on them now and flowers are beginning to bloom.  A couple of weeks ago when I went grocery shopping, our store had the most beautiful potted plants for sale.  You cannot imagine my excitement when I looked at the tag and they were ranunculus!  There have been so many things I’ve pinned on Pinterest that had ranunculus in them but we never had any for sale around here.  I about fell over when I saw them and immediately put two in my cart.  They produce the most beautiful blooms!!  So many layers of soft, fluffy goodness.  Today and tomorrow we’re supposed to get some thunderstorms and I am really looking forward to that.  There’s nothing more relaxing than a gentle rain and some rolling thunder.

Hope all is well in your world!

Hi Evie – I love ranunculus too. They’re one of my favorites because, not only are they beautiful, but they are perfect to plant this time of year because they can take the colder weather.
I love silver hair! What a fun change that will be for you and a great way to lift your spirits. And joining the gym – that’s always a good idea – good for the body and mind.
I’m sorry your plans for buying a new home fell thru but your current home looks just beautiful! – I love your dining room and your craft room. What a wonderful place to create. xo
Oh, and I love your burgers!

Hey Susan! The ranunculus are so gorgeous!! I may see if I can get some to plant in the yard for next year. They bloom so much!

You know, as far as the house thing falling through, I feel like it all worked out the way it should have. We decided to refinance our current home instead and will have it paid off in 15 years, which will be really nice. We had gotten all wrapped up in having a bigger home when we should just focus on the home we have.

I actually went to the gym and signed up today so look out world! I’m hitting the ground running!!

YES!! Do something crazy with your hair!! I’ve had purple hair many, many years ago and it was great! it gave me a real boost of happiness. Also, that fitness facility is a great idea. There is nothing like moving your body to help you in increasing both your mood and your weight. I’ve always been a huge swimmer and have been into yoga for many years now. To me it’s perfection. Finding the right kind of fitness activity is sometimes difficult so don’t give up if you don’t like it at first. Experiment and have fun, i’m pretty sure there is something for everyone. And I can totally understand they state of restlessness you are in because it’s happening to me as well. It actually happens to me every spring…I kind of become lethargic during winter and wake up again in spring, like bears…:)

He was misdiagnosed by the first vet we used here and that led to a situation where the treatment almost seemed worse than the disease. Thankfully, @lawndale_vet helped us navigate that situation and they have nursed this big boy back to a much happier place. We still are uncertain about how much time we have left with him but, for now, he is the happiest we have seen him in a long time. I am so thankful to the staff at Lawndale for, not only providing great medical care, but for loving on him and making him feel like the best boy ever at each appointment. ❤️❤️❤️

We got the first one healed and then he got one on his other paw. Then that one got better but his paw pads got rubbed raw by the protective boot he was in and now are infected. Fingers crossed that this cone helps keep him from licking it so he can heal. Until then, Bowie is going to be a very sad boy, indeed. 😢

My sweet friend @tlventura made it for me and it’s one of two fall decorations I kept when we moved. Hope you’re having an awesome day wherever you are, friends!! ❤️❤️❤️
